What is Zcash?
ज़ीकैश क्या है?
Zcash is digital cash. Like Bitcoin, it lives on a public blockchain. Unlike Bitcoin, it can hide the details of a payment so only you and the person you paid can see them.
Cash, but digital
Think about physical cash. When you hand someone a ₹500 note, there's no permanent public record of who you are, who they are, and what you bought. Zcash brings that everyday privacy to digital money.
The unit is ZEC. You hold it in a wallet on your phone. You can send it to anyone in the world with an internet connection.
The key idea: shielded payments
Zcash has two kinds of addresses:
- Transparent: works like Bitcoin. Amounts and addresses are visible on the public chain.
- Shielded: uses cryptography (zero-knowledge proofs) so the network can confirm a payment is valid without revealing the sender, receiver, or amount.
Modern Zcash wallets use a unified address that prefers the shielded pool. In practice: you get privacy by default, and you don't have to think about the plumbing.
What Zcash is not
- It is not a way to break the law. Privacy is a normal right, and this community does not help with anything illegal.
- It is not a get-rich scheme. We never tell you a price will go up. This is about a tool, not a bet.
- It is not run by Zcash India. We're a community that teaches and organises. The protocol is open and global.
